Yoga Health - You are what you think

Yoga health - in the west they use to say you are what you eat but since the discovery of Yoga, Ayurveda and other natural holistic medicines from the east, we now know that we are first what we think because that influences what we eat.

The mind is the engine that runs the body through the perfect coordination of all the systems working together. Each system such as the cardiovascular, respiratory or digestive system depends on the next to perform its job with balance and harmony - otherwise the whole body suffers trying to pick up the extra work of a failing system.

For the body to be healthy the mind needs to be balanced and peaceful at all times. The body itself can not function on its own without the mind but the mind can keep functioning even if we loose the use of the body, for example when a person is paralyzed.

We are what we think because before something can materialize or come into being with an action or result, there first has to be a thought on a conscious or subconscious level. A conscious thought is when we first think then speak, understanding what we are discussing or contemplating voluntarily in our mind or out loud. Or on a subconscious level, a thought is one which we have stored away in our memory which we may not be aware of but one which still influences our decisions and beliefs in a silent manner.

On rare occasion we become conscious of our subconscious mind however most of the time we are not aware that we are still holding on to old thought patterns, which will influence our actions. The subconscious is like a camcorder recording each moment of our life and everything which happens to us in our surroundings with others. Every word said, heard or felt, each action taken is all etched onto this file to be looked back on in the present and future.

All people around the world are having different thoughts coming from different backgrounds and beliefs, traditions and habits, these are influencing how the world is being shaped and governed. Depending on the types of thoughts people are having, positive or negative, selfish or collective, exclusive or inclusive, will end up influencing all of us in the present and future.

It is an understood fact that every person’s thoughts and actions no matter how large or small influence and affect every other person and living thing including the earth itself. We are all connected together as humans and every little action which comes from someone’s thoughts will end up reaching and affecting us on a certain level even if we are not aware of it consciously.

Our connection to one another is from our past and the fact that each one of us has been born from the same place and from the same creator. Most people do not feel connected to others around the world because they do not feel a connection with the creator/nature/God etc.

The separations we place between ourselves be it mental negative thoughts towards others or physical walls and barriers in our gardens or country borders inhibit our mind to be open to all or recognize others as ourselves.

The world we live in is constructed by fear and the fear we feel and create is against our fellow humans who are also being affected by our fear or negativity towards them. As we are being selective about who we like or consider a friend, lover or allay, we are at the same time leaving other humans out of our ‘special’ circle, creating separations that only exist physically. We cannot really separate ourselves from one another on a spiritual path this will not promote Yoga Health.

The power of the mind is seen when a yogi or guru can stop breathing for hours, can control and stop their blood or heart rate or just leave their body when they are finished with the human physical experience. This is done first by controlling the thoughts and then starting to control the body and its functions.

The reason most people do not know how to control their actions is that they do not know what is passing through their mind as thoughts. As we live in a world of different social levels, disconnection and fear amongst humans, each individual taking care of themselves, living a fast and excessive materialistic lives most do not know what they are thinking about all day long. Thoughts are mostly about work, enjoyments and relationships but as life is stressful and unbalanced for the majority of humans, there is little recollection of how powerful thoughts can be and how important it is to know what we are letting into our mind.

Know what you are thinking about and you will know what kind of person you have become.

Yogi Cameron :) thank you for this divine nectar.I am currently feeling strange because i am feeling like bursting with love and yet i have to control it.It’s like my heart wants to explode and i have to retain that burning love inside me.And it sets me on fire.Since your article and your guidance on leading a yogic lifestyle,i begun with it immediately. So now i wake up early, eat early and sleep early. But most of the time i’m tired because i can’t sleep fully in one stretch and have to wake up at 3 every morning and then i never complete my sleep. And now i am combining this part of controlling the thoughts.
    Yogi Cameron,when i read this part :

    quoting you :
” The power of the mind is seen when a yogi or guru can stop breathing for hours, can control and stop their blood or heart rate or just leave their body when they are finished with the human physical experience. This is done first by controlling the thoughts and then starting to control the body and its functions. ”

I felt tense and anxious and some fear on reading this although i wanted to understand it.Today i was doing one of my meditations which involves a certain breathing technique, and in it i have to hold my breath only for about three seconds and all the time during the meditation i had the picture of a yogi, guru in my mind and wanted to know how it feels.I held my breath for i don’t know how long but so long that i usually do not hold my breath for that amount of time, and from a certain point my mind began releasing all thoughts and i felt light and like i’m transcending something and i felt BLISS.All this for a taster. Now i am eased and happy because i begin to understand the phenomenon.

Divine nectar is pouring out of my hands. The essence is important.Clear all clutter.
    Yogi Cameron thank you.
