List of Treatments

All consultations and treatments take place in the privacy and comfort of the client’s home.

As every person is different and unique with a different constitution that needs a certain treatment, all healing methods are prescribed according to the individual. The elements or Doshas of the body are in constant movement in accordance with our daily lifestyles and activities of the mind and body. These treatments all help to bring our elements into balance where we find a connection between the mind and body to experience more peace and harmony, health and happiness.

There are two essential parts to any treatment. One is the energy and effectiveness of the therapist and the other is the herb used for treatments. Both of these factors have to be pure, balanced and have the correct effect on the patient.

Ayurvedic Treatments

The two ways a treatment works is either by having a cleaning effect (Lamghaha) or a nourishing effect (Brimhaha).

ABHYANGAR. This treatment is a balancing massage of herbs and oils on the body, which has a rejuvenating effect on the entire system. It is effective for better sleep, flexibility, fatigue, dryness and muscle health. Depending on the person, different oils are used to bring the Doshas into balance.

SHIRODHARA. Pouring of warm herbal oils on the forehead. The action of pouring oil back and forth on the head region helps to calm and harmonize, as well as place a person into a deep relaxation mode. It is effective for better memory, headaches, neck pain, problems regarding the senses, arthritis and stiffness.

UDVARTANA. Herbal powders of various plants are added to oils and applied to the body. The skin is the biggest organ of the body and this treatment helps to keep it nourished, give it better tone and healthier complexion. This treatment is good for people wishing to lose weight as the skin works more efficiently to rid itself of toxins as well as helping with digestion and circulation.

SWEDENA. Here the body is taken through a sweating process, which helps to open the pores of the skin for the oils to better nourish the body. As the oils penetrate the deeper layers their healing effects are also more powerful. At the same time more toxins are release by the skin through the process of heating. Great for releasing aches and pains from the body as it helps the muscles to relax.

MARMA THERAPY. Marmas are pressure points on the entire body and when they are touched or massages in the correct manner they can be healing and balancing, bringing pain relief through the opening of blocked energy. Yoga explains that most disease begins with incorrect breathing and therefore negative or blocked energy flow. Marma massage opens these energy channels for optimum mental and physical health, greater thinking power and balance.

NASYA. Herbal oils are dropped into the nasal passages that can bring relief from different allergies such as Asthma or Hay fever. These passages need to be kept very healthy to avoid any infection or excess mucus, which can also affect the eyes, ears or throat. Virechena nasya helps expel headaches, swelling, dandruff, and sinusitis and throat problems. Brimhana nasya helps the head region, intellect and senses for better perception and thinking.

NETRA TARPANA. The eyes are bathed in oil to help bring them to their full potential as well as relieve them from any strain or stress. The eyes are overloaded each day with excess visuals and this treatment builds their strength. This treatment helps with weakness, dryness, injury and pain in the eyes.

KARNAPURNA. Warm oils are poured into the ear passages to help clean as well as nourish the inner ear drums and bones. The effect of this treatment leaves the person feeling warmth and calmness.

YOGIC TREATMENTS

All Yoga sessions are a complete guide to health, wellness and a balanced lifestyle change.

Here Yoga is taught as a lifestyle and not just a physical practice. Yoga has many levels, which are mostly mental, some are physical and others are a dedication and commitment that require discipline to change our habits and thinking. A person taking up the yogic life will benefit unimaginably and will find a direction and harmony in his or her life that they only dreamed possible. This new path also builds up patience and understanding that leads to selflessness, forgiveness and compassion. Yoga means union: union between self and spirit and oneness with other humans (spirits). Yoga lessons are also different each time depending on a person and their Dosha levels.

PRANAYAMA. The most potent of all physical yoga practices is breathing and it holds the key to the connection between the mind and body. One who controls the breath controls the mind and one who controls the mind can move beyond it into meditation and other higher levels of existence. Natural medicine teaches that most illnesses in our society have their root or beginning in the breath. Breath is life.

POSTURE. This is the popular practice of physical movement. Yoga postures serves to aligned the body and bring balanced thinking to the mind. It helps the body to be more elastic and flexible which adds to better circulation and muscle health. A flexible body is a healthier one because the person finds greater mind strength through better body function. Also as people age they avoid becoming too slow or stiff which leads to many avoidable common disabilities such as arthritis or high blood pressure.

MEDITATION. To meditate we need a controlled mind and good habits to bring our senses under our command. Here the practice is to begin breaking up our thought patterns to be able to create a gap between thoughts. As we practice, the gap grows and we find that we start to control what we want to think about and more importantly when we want. Over time the mind comes completely under our control and we can choose when to think and when to have peaceful silence. With meditation we understand far greater things than just what we see or hear.

MANTRA. Mantra is the use of sound or words to evoke a higher consciousness by repeating and chanting until it becomes a part of us. Mantra is like physical yoga for the mind as it helps make the mind more open and flexible. Mantra has an inner healing effect on the mind and body.

Reflexology

Similar to Marma therapy, Reflexology is the use of the energy points in the feet, hands or ears to reach the deeper organs of the body. Every organ of the body has a reflective point on the feet, which is very accessible for treatment with pressure, oils and massage. When treated correctly the organs become more rested and vibrant as a general feeling of deep relaxation falls on the mind and body. When the organs are rested with rejuvenation and relaxation they can undertake their functions with better efficiency. This is how a person remains youthful and energetic throughout their lifetime.

IMPORTANT LIFE TOPICS

There are many other facets to natural healing which need to be followed for a balanced and peaceful body, mind and spirit connection. There are many more everyday topics that need to be addressed for our mind to be peaceful, balanced and healthy.

NUTRITION. Under this topic guidelines and teaching is given on food, what diet is best to follow for the individual person, food combining, the correct times to eat, the seasons and their effect on our body and much more. There is a lot of information in the media about nutrition and most people are confused as to what is correct. This is cleared up in this section. Our health depends largely on what we place in our body but this usually depends on our state of mind and what information we have to follow.

SUPPLEMENTS. Most westerners take some sort of extra supplementation, which they believe to be what may be missing from their diet or an extra boost for lacking energy. Most people need to clean their body from all the excesses of life and many supplements that are consumed end up adding more toxins to a persons system. This is a topic that needs much discretion and care to better understand how supplements actually work in the body before taking something which maybe doing more harm than good.

WEIGHT LOSS. This has become such an obsession of the western culture that many people find themselves under pressure to look a certain way. Loosing weight is a mental process that if followed correctly eventually has a physical effect on the body. Loosing weight any other way only works temporarily and can be dangerous for future health by weakening the immune system. Each person has a "natural" healthy weight that should not be governed by trend but by the individual and their needs. When the mind is balanced the body will follow.

MEDICATION. The question of taking modern drugs needs to be addressed by everyone because most people are on some sort of medication. Before anyone contemplates putting something into their body, they need to understand how chemical drugs work and what may happen in the future after prolonged use (Side effects).

Lifestyle management is the key to wellbeing

How does one manage their work, family, relationship, health and them self in such a hectic and excessive world where most people now suffer from some sort of imbalance such as fatigue, migraines, digestive problems, nervous disorders, sleep deprivation, blood problems, heart issues and much more? Most people understand management in the context of work but when it comes to health and well- being, relationships or other parts of life, this coordination and discipline is hard to reach. Life management has to do with helping a person understand how their body, mind and environment all work together and how they can manage everything they want to do or achieve with the lifestyle they are leading.

The 5 major western health problems that lead to all other diseases

BAD DIGESTION. This is what leads to bad elimination. When foods are consumed at incorrect times, in too bigger quantities for the individual, too frequently (3 or 4 times a day) and have little food value, the digestive track becomes over loaded and cannot filter food at the rate it is coming in. This causes a lot of undigested food to pass through to the intestines and blood, which in turn are over loaded and cannot perform their tasks of cleaning. This is where more toxins are created and circulate into the other organs. Now we have toxicity of the blood and of the other systems.

BAD ELIMINATION. Most westerners have a problem going to the bathroom even once a day, which is a minimum requirement for a healthy body and mind. Cleaning of the colon and intestinal track is a must and failure to do so at the beginning brings on constipation, headaches and allergies and can continue to transform into more serious problems such as intestinal cancer or blood related issues.

NERVOUS DISORDERS. The result of bad digestion now becomes a nervous issue as the body is over loaded with toxins. Apart from the toxins we have from contaminated food and unhealthy drinks, we also have to deal with toxins bombarding us everywhere through other parts of life such as cell phones, computers, televisions, air travel, pollution and every other kinds of invisible rays. The nervous system cannot cope with all this tension, which brings on depression, stress and anxiety. These in them self bring on many other problems such as sleeplessness, agitations, lack of concentration, negativity, poor relationships and much more.

BAD BREATHING. The negative effects of nervousness affect the breathing and visa versa. Breathing in a balanced, continuous and deep manner is fundamental to our health. It is taken for granted that breathing happens automatically and therefore needs no attention but breathing is more of a science which needs much study and care as a lot of our health problems start with negative breath flow.

BAD SLEEP. And finally the negative effects of bad breathing lead to shallow sleep and fatigue. When a person does not sleep properly for the duration they require to allow their organs and systems to recover from the activities of the day before, many imbalances will start to take shape. As the internal organs are not rested and replenished with vitality, diseases can start to form because the immune system is too weak to fight back any foreign intruders.

The mind is what controls the body and to avoid the above scenario, we need to lead a life of discipline and good habits to give our mind the strength it needs to make better choices. This list can be read backwards or forwards as the effects of one affect the other.

All that you want to do in your life begins with change and each person needs some help in reaching his or her goals and dreams. Life can be happy and loving but this is a choice we have to make by living and choosing balance, health and harmony towards ourselves and with all other living beings.
